1. Dear Queer Shakespearians,

Your mod has finally gotten around to emptying out several things that were sitting in his inbox and his to-queue bookmark, so you can expect to see several new posts over the next few days. To keep up the influx of content, please submit anything you have been sitting on that is even remotely related to queer Shakespeare! I’d like to get this place up and running again.

    Tchy

  2. Dear FYQueerShakespearians,

It would be marvellous of you to drop something in the submit box.

    Regards,

    The Management

p.s. I fixed the link. It’ll actually go to the submit box now.

p.p.s. I am clearly the best at life.

  3. Call for submissions!

We’ve finally got some things back in the queue and I’d like to keep it that way! To that end, I’d like to invite you all to submit whatever tickles your fancy—art, fic, videos, articles, information, essays, or anything else you can think of, and anything relating to gender, sexuality, or anything else you think falls under the label of queer!

And, once again, feel free to submit your own creations! We encourage your narcissism if it gives us content.

  4. Shakesqueries

    sententiola:

I know at least a couple of you (including you, the person who reblogged something on this sort of topic within the last 24 hours that is actually what reminded me I wanted to do this post, and also you, the person who started a tumblr specifically about this) may be able to help me answer at least one of the following questions, all of which concern…

Shakesqueer: a queer companion to the complete works of Shakespeare, edited by Madhavi Menon (Duke University Press, 2011)

    The questions are as follows:

    1. How awesome does this look?
    2. Have you read it?
    3. If you answered ‘yes’ to question 2: is it as awesome as it looks?
    4. If you answered ‘yes’ to question 2: how advanced does my grasp of queer theory have to be before I can get any benefit out of it?
    5. If you answered ‘yes’ to question 2: how advanced does my grasp of Shakespeare have to be before I can get any benefit out of it?
    6. If you answered ‘no’ to question 2: doesn’t this look awesome?
    7. Is it too much that the title of this post is a pun on the title of a book that’s already another pun?

Thank you very much for your assistance with these inquiries.

Too good not to reblog. Plus, maybe some of you could help him out.

  5. Shakesqueer

Have y’all seen this? Just bought it today. My favorite essay so far is Heather Love’s on Macbeth but I’m a fan of the title for the reading of Midsummer Night’s Dream… Shakespeare’s Ass Play.

[A book cover. The top half is taken up by paintings of Shakespeare with brightly coloured makeup, stars, and other patterns on his face. The bottom half is black and includes the title, “Shakesqueer,” with the subtitle “A Queer Companion to the Complete Works of Shakespeare.” The editor is Madhavi Menon.]

  6. Call for submissions!

I’d just like to remind everyone that we take submissions—in fact, we would really like them! There are still a couple of things in the queue, but beyond that, we have very little to share, and we would like to spread the queer Shakespeare love as widely as possible.

We welcome all things related to sexuality and gender in Shakespeare. This could include fiction, art, videos, recommendations, scholarly articles, information about particular productions or companies, quotes, or just about anything else. They can be things you found or things you made—we’re not picky! We would especially like to welcome submissions of trans or gender-related things, as there has been somewhat of an emphasis on queer sexuality so far (but of course we are still happy to take submissions of a sexuality-related nature if you have something of that sort).

We also have an open ask box. I am open to answering questions and/or making recommendations, and I imagine James would be as well.

Finally, of course, we would love for you to share this blog around and find us more followers. We like followers!
